How do I enable notifications and location?

To receive real-time alerts from Citizen, you must enable both location services and notifications on your device.

For iPhone:

• Location: Follow these steps to ensure location services are on for Citizen.

• Notifications: Go to Settings > Notifications > Citizen and make sure:

  • "Allow Notifications" is turned to Always on

  • "Show as Banners" is enabled (if you're not receiving alerts)

For Android:

• Location: Follow these steps to ensure location services are on for Citizen.

• Notifications: Go to Settings > Notifications > Citizen and make sure:

  • Notifications are not blocked

  • “Show Silently” is turned off if you want sound alerts

Note: Even with notifications enabled, the number of alerts you receive depends on your location and nearby activity. Factors like population density, incident severity, and your personal notification preferences can also influence whether or not you receive a notification.
