Citizen takes a number of steps to protect the personal data and privacy of its users:
Citizen does not share users' personal data with any third-parties. During sign-up, we require both an email and phone number from users. Your email allows us to reach out with relevant updates, and your phone number ensures we can tie the personal phone account to the username. Requiring phone numbers also allows us to permanently remove any user who seeks to engage in harassment, discrimination, or unlawful conduct. We believe this will help make our community safer and stronger.
All footage generated in the app is reviewed by our moderation team, who takes great care to remove any sensitive video that might compromise the privacy or safety of persons depicted in the footage. User safety and privacy are our priorities, and we continue to strengthen Citizen's best practices to ensure that both are protected.
