Citizen works in real-time, meaning there is no way for the user to manually refresh it – new incidents will automatically show up as they are reported to the police. Citizen tracks “Recent” and “Trending” incidents in two separate tabs.
Recent Incidents: The Recent tab shows you the latest incidents within the boundaries of the current map area. The further you zoom in, the fewer incidents you’ll see, and the app will show older incidents. Tap the Recent tab to zoom back out and see the latest incidents citywide.
Trending Incidents: The Trending tab always shows you the most viewed incidents across the entire city.
There isn’t a feature for users to filter out incidents based on time, so you will see older incidents when you zoom into a specific area on the map. Our product team is working on adding an option to remove old incidents for future versions of Citizen.
